Census 2011
Greenock and District Scouts have grown again with nearly 1500 young people and adults are getting involved.
Census returns for 2011 show a rise in membership in the District for the fifth year in a row.
A total of 1457 people now Scout in Inverclyde – a far cry from the figure of just 816 in 2006.
The breakdown is as follows:
Beavers 454
Cubs 394
Scouts 252
Explorers 94 (24 of these are registered as YL’s)
Network 50 (only 4 of these are unattached to a group)
Adults 259 (this includes all appointments, sectional assistants, Active support and others)
District Commissioner David McCallum said: “All sections have done well, and I am particularly inspired at the vast increase in adult support. Well done to the groups who have once again shown an increase.
“While this is great news we will not be complacent and will strive to get bigger and better every year.”
