District Beaver Outdoor Sleepover
As part of the celebrations for the 25th anniversary of the Beavers and in recognition of the rule change allowing Beavers to have an Outdoor Sleepover, forty Beavers from seven colonies gathered at Everton Scout Camp for an action packed 24 hours.
In preparation, the leaders pitched the tents on the Friday evening. The Beavers arrived on the Saturday morning and after settling in to their tents, they gathered for flag break followed by lunch.
The afternoon was action packed with all the outdoor activities in placed. They enjoyed the Zip Slide, Crate Climb, Jacob’s Ladder, Low Ropes, Archery and Swimming Pool Hockey. To keep them going, breaks for juice and snacks were fitted in.
Dinner provided the opportunity for a short respite before the evening programme began. There was a Beaver Hunt, a marquee party complete with birthday cake followed by a campfire.
The evening ended with supper and a DVD show in the lodge before the exhausted beavers went to their tents to settle down for the night. For most their first outdoor camping experience..
On the Sunday morning they arose for breakfast and attended a Scouts Own led by D.C David McCallum. This was followed by a short hike and treasure hunt.
By noon the campsite was cleared. the Beavers gathered for a final time and the camp was dismissed.
Over the weekend, the Beavers had the opportunity to gain the following badges:-
Nights Away, Hikes Away and Healthy Eating
Our own special Everton Challenge Badge (for taking part in the outdoor activities:- Zip Slide, Crate Climb, Jacob Ladder, Low Ropes and of course the Sleepover. )
