2008 – Austria Trip
Greenock and District Scouts set off on Austria Adventure
51 Scouts, Explorer Scouts, Leaders and Scout Fellowship members from Greenock and District Scout Groups set off from Greenock on Tueday 1st July for an action packed camp in Austria. The group headed to a small village called Stanzach which can be found in the Lechtal, a very mountainous part of Austria.
Surrounded by the Allgauer Alps on one side and the Lechtaler Alps on the other Stanzach is ideally positioned for a wide range of challenging adventurous activities.
The group were based in a typical Tyrol House and took part in a host of activities such as white water rafting, dry toboggan run, shooting, mountain biking and a two day expedition over the Alps.
As relaxation the party spent time playing games or going to the local swimming pool and take part in a Tyrolean Night – with several pipers in the party the bagpipes got an airing.
The Group have had fantastic support from the Greenock public with their fundraising in recent months to fund the activities.
