Scouts

Scouts meet as part of a Scout Troop which consists of small units of six to eight Scouts called a Patrol, usually led by a Patrol Leader. Outdoor activities feature prominently, with the highlight being camping. Rock climbing, powerboating, caving, photography and international experiences are just some of the things they get up to.

Being a Scout

When you join Scouts, you’ll be introduced to lots of new activities, people and things.

Who are Scouts?

Scouts are a go-getting group of young people aged 10 ½ to 14 who:

  • Master new skills and try new things
  • Make new friends
  • Have fun and go on adventures, at home and abroad
  • Explore the world around them
  • Help others and make a difference in their own communities and beyond

Week in and week out, they gather in groups called Scout Troops to conquer the small task of changing the world.

Awards

Scouts start small but think big, always challenging themselves to do more and be more. It starts with an award. Who knows where it might lead?

Activity and Staged Badges

Master something you love, or try something shiny and new. If it spurs you on or stirs your interest, we’ve probably got a badge for it.
