45th Greenock & District

45th Regisration Certificate.jpgIn the Sommerville Weir Hall at Quarrier’s Village, a Beaver Colony  was started in early September 2008. The numbers rose quickly to 18 boys and girls and by early December has a complement of 24.
On the 2nd October 2008, Assistant District Commisioner  Beavers invested 12 Beavers who took their Promise and were given their badge. The District Commissioner presented them with their scarves.

On Wednesday 3rd December, another eleven Beavers were invested and presented with their scarves by Graham Haddock - Assistant Scottish Commissioner (Scouts). Graham was a member of the former 45th Scouts.

On 10 February 2009, a further two Beavers were invested and presented with their scarves by Margaret Bell of the 70th Beavers and a former Cub Leader with the original 45th

The Group has taken the registration number of a previous well known Greenock Group - the 45th Renfrewshire. The original 45th was founded in 1920 and met initially in the Greenock Orangefield Baptist Church hence the scarf colours of Orange and Green.

The Quarriers Beaver Scouts will be changing their meeting time to Wednesdays 6-7pm from 29th October onwards. Martin Buchan will lead the colony and can be contacte don 01505612300 for more details.

The 1st QV Beavers (45th) now have 31 young people attending every Wednesday-one third of whom are girls. The 45th shall be leading this year\’s Founder\’s Day Parade-our Union Flag dates from 1953 and it will be carried proudly above a sea of green and gold neckies.
