10th:- Activities and News – 2009
GSL Bob Lynch officially handed over running of the Group to new GSL Joanne Lindsay at Parents night on 12th June.
Bob has been GSL for over 15 years. New GSL Joanne made a presentation to Bob on behalf of the group. Bob will be continuing with the group by organising monthly hikes for the Scouts and parents.
During the Parents Night, eight Beavers and two Scouts were presented with their Chief Scout Award. A new Beaver and Scout were invested, Six of the Year and Cub of the Year Awards were presented, with Cub of the Year going to Rachel McDowell.
It was also announced that new Beaver Leader will be Kenneth Munro taking over from Ann-Margaret McKinnon. Kenneth is an ex Beaver and has come up through the group over the years.
During the last 6 months Beavers, Cubs & Scouts have had an exciting time with lots of outdoor activities including a number of hikes,with some of the Scouts completing their hillwalkers badge. The Beavers enjoyed lots of activities and were helped out by Jenna Sinclair & Ellis Bowie from 5th Gourock Guides working on Service for their Duke of Edinburgh Award. They also enjoyed a day out at Evertonfor Beaver Day. The Cubs took part in a clean up at Lunderston Bay as part of their Global Conservation badge. Beavers & Cubs took part in Beaver & Cubs Day and Scouts enjoyed a trip up to Xscape in February and a weekend camp in May with the ‘Itchy Midge Camp’.
