33rd in clean up
The 33rd have been on clean up duty over the past few days.
First of all the Beavers stayed back for an hour after the District Beaver Day at Everton and cleaned the whole campsite from top to bottom filling several bin bags with litter. The next day a team of Cubs and Scouts hiked along The Cut and, in true Wombles style, collected all those “things that the everyday folks leave behind”.
The group finished off the hike at Cornalees Visitor Centre with burgers and juice. All the young ones are working towards various environmental and community awards. Well done for a great clear up effort.
1st Gourock Fashion Show
A fantastic night was had by more than 100 family and friends at 1st Gourock’s very own fashion show.
The models were all very excited (and a little nervous) beforehand, and they ranged from the very young (1 year old Evie) to Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers and even a number of Executive members. Each model walked the catwalk in both a casual and formal outfit, before the grand finale where outfits the youngsters had designed were paraded for all to see.
Thanks go to M&Co (who kindly gave the use of their store and provided all the outfits), Marc for photographing the event, and passing on his advice to our amateur photographers, and Nicola for her modelling tips. And a very special mention to Fiona Smith, who arranged the whole event and managed to raise over £900 in the process.
