Awards for all at 32nd Group Annual Christmas Carol Service

More than 250 young people and adults attended the 32nd Greenock & District Group annual Christmas Carol service at Wellpark Midkirk during Christmas week.
Amongst the usual fun and festive thanksgiving, led by the Rev Alan Sorensen and assisted by the young people, several Chief Scout awards were presented by section leaders and ‘thank you’ certificates were presented by the Group Scout Leader Carol McCallum to notable civic and community partners who have assisted the group during the past few years.
Councillor Ciano Rebecchi, a scout ambassador was thanked as were Inverclyde Duke of Edinburgh award team led by Brian Collins of Inverclyde Council, Jan Spence and Patrick Devlin.
Alison Duncan of Wellington Allotment and Isobel Parker, who heads up the group cook team were also thanked as was the Rev Alan Sorensen, DL for his support during and since the group centenary in 2015. Wood Beads were presented to ASL Megan McGuiness and Jamboree Scout Alex Wiseman raised almost £200 from departure collection.
One of the highlights was the presentation to Explorer Scout Ryan Bisset of Scout Wings. A terrific evening was had by all. Many thanks once again the Wellpark Midkirk and to all who played a part in the organisation of the event.






1st Gourock’s Festive Outing

1st Gourock had their annual Christmas outing last month to elev8. All the young people had a fantastic time.
Santa popped by to say hello. The Beavers were awarded lots of badges and we also had five Chief Scout bronze awards awarded.
Finally we said goodbye to three Beavers who swam up to Cubs and goodbye to a few Cubs who have moved on to scouts. A fantastic night all round.
