32nd Beavers enjoy a coastal hike
40 Beaver Scouts from the 32nd Wednesday & Thursday Colonies were out and about last weekend on their annual Coastal hike along Lunderston Bay to Inverkip Beach for lunch. Later they headed through Ardgowan Estate, where a scavenger hunt took place, before returning to Lunderston.
All of the young people were exhausted after their three-hour outing and finished off with a well deserved play at Lunderston park before heading home. Well done to all who earned their first Hikes Away badge. Beaver Section Leaders Pauline McLevy and Andrew MacDougall thank all leaders and parents who attended to give support.
District Expedition Challenge training day
It was a training day for Scouts from across the District last week as a group of them spent a day learning skills for hillwalking and living in wild terrain as preparation for their Expedition Challenge hike.
The group will be venturing into the Highlands for a weekend in June, carrying their kit with them and wild camping wild. In anticipation, they learned about navigation, kit requirements, food planning and group safety.
The group will spend another day in the hills near Cornalees practising their navigation and carrying heavy loads before they are ready to go on their main hike. We wish them all good luck on their challenge.
