Development Day


DSC_2699.JPGOne hundred and twenty six adult leaders and active support members attended the District Development Day at the Tontine Hotel on Sunday 9th May 2010..

 

Greenock and District Chairman, Ronnie McEwan, introduced 4 new Honorary Vice Presidents who were presented with certificates and badges by Honorary Life President Ian Banner. Ian Black, John Hawthorn, Alex Lynch and John Pow have all served Scouting over many years.

 

DC David McCallum announced the appointment of 2 Ambassadors for Greenock and District Scouting – Lord Lieutenant for Renfrewshire, Guy Clark DL and ex-Provost Ciano Rebecchi. Eleanor Lyall, Chief Commissioner for Scouts in Scotland, presented both Ambassadors with Certificates and welcomed them to the role. Once again Greenock District had achieved a first with these appointments.

 

The DC announced the appointment of Peter Bennett as Depute District Commissioner, Jennifer Buchan as ADC Beavers, Jane Wylie as ADC Cubs and Anil Chundoo as ADC Scouts. These additional appointments will strengthen the existing District team.

 

Ian Canning was presented with the Silver Wolf by the Chief Commissioner followed by several Long Service Awards.

 

Explorer Scouts gave first class examples of the Scouting WOW factor by demonstrating a wide range of activities recently enjoyed followed by an inspirational DVD shown by Graeme Luke, Programme and Development Executive from SHQ.

 

At sectional meetings in the afternoon plans and ideas for development were discussed and GSLs attended a workshop explaining funds available from Development Grant & Cashback for Community Schemes. Group Health Check Templates were distributed to the GSLs and their relevance to the overall District Development Plan explained. The Chief Commissioner for Scotland complimented the District on its recent development and encouraged all to keep up the high standards.
