Due to this Award, David and Carol were invited to witness the Parade of Queen Scouts held in the Quadrangle of Windsor Castle on Sunday 20 April.

On the Saturday, despite the wind and rain, they had a fabulous time sightseeing in Windsor.

On the Sunday, the weather cleared. In the morning, they attended the Matins Service in St. Georges Chapel. In the afternoon, they returned to the Castle to witness the Parade of Queen Scouts. Click on the image above, of David with Chief Scout Peter Duncan, and view a selection of photographs.

David formally received his Award at the Scottish Presentation of Awards on Sunday 1st June 2008 in Dunfermline Abbey. The Awards were presented by Mrs Eleanor Lyall MBE Scottish Chief Commissioner. The Tribute read out and addressed to David was as follows:-

David was an extremely effective Scout Leader for twenty four years enabling the 32nd Renfrew & Inverclyde to flourish by engaging in active and adventurous Scouting of the highest quality under his leadership. His skills and abilitities was readily recognised and David has subsequently served in a number of appointments at District level in Greenock, culminating in his widely welcomed appointment as District Commissioner in 2006. Under his stewardship the District is functioning extremely well and sound well-planned development work has resulted in the expansion of Scouting provision within the District. The District’s programme and accompaning media publicity of Centenary events was exemplary and much admired nationwide and its support of the World Jamboree and Blair Atholl Jamborette is commendable. An active promoter and participant in the Greenock Gang Show, David also contributes significantly to work at Area level and as a former Assistant Area Commissioner he worked tirelessly to encourage Exploer Scouting and the related benefits to the Young Leader Scheme to Groups in every District. That currently Scouting in Greenock District is enjoying much success and an upsurge of interest is in no small measure attributable to David’s outstanding committment, contribution and Leadership
