Archie Hart – Gone Home

A. Hart_cr.jpgIt is with regret that we record that Arhie, at the age of 76 years, passed away on on 12th April 2010.

In his formative years, he was a member of the 5th Renfrewshire Scouts. He became Scout Master in 1961 and Group Scout Leader in 1967.

In 1962, eleven Scouts from the 5th, received the Scout Association’s highest award, the Queen’s Badge. This was, and probably still remains the highest number of recipients from one Troop, at any one time. Archie kept the ‘Dandy 5th’ to the fore.

He became District Commissioner from 1975 till 1979. He was also an ACC with the old Renfrew and Inverclyde Area.
A Thanksgiving Service in celebration of the life of Archie was held in the Old West Kirk, Esplanade, Greenock on Friday 23rd April.
