G & D Parade & Service of Celebration 2018

Once again, the annual Parade and Service of Celebration took place on Sunday 20 May 2018

Around 700 Scouts and Leaders paraded to Greenock Town Hall for this year’s Celebration of Scouting led by the Leapmoor Scout Pipe Band and 2nd Port Glasgow Boys Brigade Band.

The Parade assembled in Shaw Place and marched to Greenock Town Hall.

It was led by the Leapmoor Pipe Band and supported by the Port Glasgow BB Silver Band.

As the sections gathered in the Town Hall, Flags were presented and placed below the stage platform.

The representatives from each Group presented a short illustrated talk on the theme of “So You Think You Know About Scouting”.

A range of activities which Groups enjoy participating in was covered, from Radio Club to international camping, rock climbing to games and campfires. Some surprise sing-songs were introduced by the young people along the way before all sections renewed their Scout Promise. The Celebration was rounded off by a short video introduction to the Scouts Scotland Plan for 2018 to 2023 “Skills for Life”.

The Retiring Collection is to be donated to the Everton Activities Fund

Thanks to all Groups for taking time to prepare their young people for the event and the excellent turnout. Special thanks to all leaders and in particular to ADC Beaver Scouts Marie Claire Davidson and Angela Aitken for co-ordinating the event.
