P1010220.JPGWelcome to Greenock and District website, which I hope you will find of interest.

Now in its 102nd year, Greenock and District Scout Association continues to grow from strength to strength. Week in week out, our team of over 135 volunteer adult leaders, provide a full and balanced programme of activity for our 1323 members in 16 groups throughout Inverclyde. You can find out where we meet if you click on our ‘where to find us’ link

This web site has recorded all of our events since our highly sucessful  centenary event year in 2007, and I do hope you take time to browse through the site. You will also note that the site has many hundreds of photographs of our groups, past and present. Go on, have a look and take a trip down memory lane.

The second Century of Scouting in Greenock and District looks bright. On 31 March 2008, the old Area of Renfrew & Inverclyde disappeared and a new Region (West Region) was formed. The effect of this, in short is that Greenock and District welcomed into our brotherhood, groups from Kilmacolm (42nd) and Port Glasgow (47th). We are now truly Inverclyde inclusive. Our name remains as Greenock and District, however we have recently launched a new District badge, which can be seen on this web site. One important resource will remain, namely our strong leadership and support team.

Scouting is alive and well in Greenock and District, with a 24% rise in membership over the past year, which equates to 255 new members. Over the past 2 years, we have risen in membership by 55% We are still growing, with new Beavers Colonies, Cubs pack and Scout Troops springing up within the past 12 months in Port Glasgow- 97th-St John’s, 45th  at Quarriers Village, 57th at the Ladybird Centre in the Larkfield area and a new troop in Wemyss Bay (85th B) .

This year we are looking forward to a record number of Chief and Queen Scout awards, which is great testament to the sheer hard work of our leadership team.

Our Scout Shop within our Finnart Street H,Q is open on a Tuesday evening between 7 and 8pm, as well as a Saturday morning from 10 till 12.00 noon. All items of uniform and badges can be purchased.

If you are interested in any way in what we do, please drop in for a coffee on a Saturday morning and a chat, with myself or any other leader. If you are a parent of a child who is keen to join, please give me a call on 01475-522531.
