Welcome to Greenock and District website, which I hope you will find of interest.Now in its 106th year, Greenock and District Scout Association continues to grow from strength to strength. Week in week out, our team of almost 260 volunteer adult leaders, provide a full and balanced programme of activity for our 1640 members in 17 groups throughout Inverclyde. This web site has recorded all of our events since our highly successful centenary event year in 2007, and I do hope you take time to browse through the site. You will also note that the site has many hundreds of photographs of our groups, past and present. Go on, have a look and take a trip down memory lane.
Scouting is alive and well in Greenock and District, with a 2.4% rise in membership in the past 12 months and a phenomenal rise of 100% in 6 short years, which equates to just over 800 new members. We are still growing, and I am delighted to announce that our newest group at Glenburn School, the 60th Greenock & District now has almost 40 members members. This group will face a challenge when it moves to the new joint campus in October of this year . I am also delighted that our partnership with primary schools in Inverclyde is working well and has contributed to our growth.
In the past 18 months, we have seen a huge number of Chief Scouts awards, almost 200 and Queen Scout awards, 13 in total which is great testament to the sheer hard work of our leadership team. 5 Of our Queens Scouts have just returned from the Queens Scout parade at Windsor , where they were inspected by the Duchess of Cambridge and Chief Scout Bear Grylls.
