I was born in Greenock and my family attended the Gaelic Parish Church until emigrating to Canada in the mid 60′s. My son started in Beavers at the age of 5. He is now a Scout in the 5th Ingersoll (Ontario Canada).

One further comment. I produced only one show in Greenock. That was in 1962. Prior to that they were produced by Bertie Morrison the Everton Camp Skipper.

My happy memories of Greenocks Gang Show are as fresh as ever although I left the District in 1963. The 1962 show was a real joy and I can still remember the items although I am now 82 years old Best wishes for 2010

Hello there – like the site, wondered have you got any photo’s of my Father – David Chalmers. If so that be great if you could let me know, or even put 1 up on this site.

I hope to raise enough Money for Chair (Bench) in Memory of my Dad in the Battery Park – opposite the old Clan Tent Company.

I remember turning up fresh-faced as a 13 year old at St. Mary’s Church Hall in 1968 to learn the pipes, and being blown away by the sheer power of the Corlic Pipe Band inside that wee hall. Unfortunately my skill on the chanter, then the side drum followed by the bass drum was woefull, but I still got to go to Tiegem in 1969 to play in Brussels. (even though I was told to march at the back and pretend to hit it!)
It was a fantastic time. I can still remember the tents, the Menin Gate, the march into Tiegem and even the tunes on the juke box in a wee cafe there.
A big thank you to all the organisers for some great memories.
