Young Person’s Civic Reception
Grand Corridor, Municipal Buildings, Greenock
On Friday 9th March 2007, Provost Rebecchi opened the doors of the Municipal Buildings for the Young people of the District to attend a Civic Reception.
The Provost, his wife Diane, former Provost David Roach and Councillor Edward Gallacher, hosted the 2-hour event. 42 young people attended, which consisted of Beavers, Cubs, Scouts & Explorers from each group within the District. Sectional ADC’s and the D.C were also in attendance.
The Provost welcomed all to the event, and the D.C on behalf of the young people gave a reply.
Four Guided tour parties were established. And after an hour, everyone had enjoyed seeing and hearing the history of the Council Chambers, District Court, Magistrates Chambers, Grand Corridor, Provost’s room, and much more.
Everyone then enjoyed a well earned snack, and a chat with each other before entering the Council debating Chamber to take part in a ‘Question Time’ type event. Our hosts were put under pressure by our young people who asked many questions on matters which affected them, like school refurbishment etc. One Beaver was also keen to know ‘is this really your house’?
The evening concluded with a few kind words from Provost Rebecchi, and votes of thanks by a Beaver, Cub, Scout and Explorer.
The District appreciates the effort made by our friends at the Town Hall, who made our young people very welcome
